What Is apys?

apys is a Solana savings app that helps users put idle USDC to work in DeFi lending markets. It searches supported lending pools, builds a diversified allocation, and lets users earn interest without having to manually compare rates or move funds between protocols. Users can keep their interest in USDC or convert it to tokenized stocks. Your original USDC deposit is used for lending and not for buying stocks. Only the interest you choose to convert is used to purchase actual tokenized stock.

How apys Works

apys compares lending opportunities across selected Solana protocols such as Kamino, Jupiter Lend and Loopscale. It reviews factors such as available interest rates, pool risk, liquidity, and how easily funds can be withdrawn. Based on this information, apys creates an allocation plan across eligible lending markets. Users can review the selected protocols, pools, amounts, and expected APY before approving the transaction. apys is non-custodial, meaning it does not take custody of your private keys or directly control your wallet. apys creates the transactions, but users must approve them through their own Solana wallet.

Earning on apys

To get started, enter the amount of USDC you want to deposit. In the example below, I deposited $100 into the application. I also selected NVDA as the stock to earn interest on.

Apys displays the route as it builds an allocation across audited lending pools. These pools are selected based on yield, risk, and liquidity conditions.

apys handles the required swaps, deposits, and approvals in one flow once you approve the transaction from your wallet. If a deposit fails during the process, you can retry by clicking Retry, and it works without any complicated steps involved.

Any token that fails in the process will be shown in the log in real time and can be retried immediately. $3 from my $100 was not deposited because, while it was getting swapped, the transaction failed.

After depositing, my NVDA interest accrues from the underlying lending protocols.

Withdrawing Assets from apys

Withdrawing is immediate on apys. It has no token lockdown period for assets deposited in the protocol.

Where Does the Yield Come From?

The yield shown in apys comes from the lending markets where USDC is deposited. In these markets, borrowers pay interest to borrow assets, and lenders receive a share of that interest. The APY is variable and can change as borrowing demand, liquidity, and market conditions change. apys does not create yield itself or guarantee a specific return. It only acts as a matching and execution tool that helps users access selected DeFi lending markets.

USDC Interest or Tokenized Stock

apys gives users two ways to receive their lending interest:

  • Keep interest in USDC: Earn and withdraw the interest as stablecoins.
  • Convert interest to tokenized stocks: Use earned interest to buy supported on-chain stock products.

Tokenized stocks are crypto tokens designed to track the price of an underlying public company’s share. Depending on the product, issuer, and terms, these tokens may not provide the same rights as owning shares through a traditional brokerage account. If a tokenized stock declines in price, it affects the value of the interest that was converted and not the original USDC deposit.

Fees on apys

apys states that it currently does not charge platform, management, performance, or withdrawal fees. But users may still pay standard Solana network fees, swap fees from Jupiter routing, where applicable and small Solana account-creation costs required by certain protocols. These costs are shown or incurred as part of the underlying on-chain activity, not as hidden apys fees.

Risks to Consider

Although apys makes DeFi lending easier to access, it still comes with risks. The underlying lending and swap protocols rely on smart contracts, which could contain vulnerabilities or be affected by exploits. Yield rates are also variable, so the APY shown when you deposit can rise or fall over time.

Conclusion

apys is a non-custodial Solana savings app that helps users earn USDC yield through selected DeFi lending protocols. It simplifies comparing pools, building an allocation, and depositing funds while keeping users in control of their wallets. The option to receive interest as USDC or tokenized stock may appeal to users who want more flexibility from their DeFi yield.
