What is Cesto?

Cesto is a Solana-based investment platform that lets users invest in curated baskets built around market themes, narratives, and strategies. Each basket can include crypto tokens, tokenized stocks, commodities, and other real-world assets to give investors diversified exposure through a single interface and transaction. Rather than receiving a fund token or receipt, users hold the basket’s underlying assets directly in their own wallets.

How Cesto Works

You can access Cesto by signing in with Google or connecting an existing Solana wallet. A Google login creates an exportable, non-custodial wallet automatically, while experienced users can connect a wallet they already control. After signing in, the investment process involves four steps:

  1. Fund the wallet with USDC on Solana.
  2. Browse available baskets and review their theses.
  3. Select a basket that reflects your market conviction.
  4. Invest and let Cesto execute the required asset allocation.

Cesto purchases the underlying assets and sends them to the user’s wallet.

Funding a Cesto Account

All Cesto baskets are funded with USDC on Solana. Users who sign in with Google can send USDC to their automatically created wallet address. Those connecting an external wallet invest from its existing USDC balance. USDC can be deposited by purchasing with a compatible card or bank account. It can also be done through another Solana wallet (or CEX).

What Is Inside a Basket?

Each basket represents a particular investment strategy. Examples include:

  • Political trading: Strategies based on disclosed congressional positions or public market personalities
  • Geopolitical themes: Defence, military technology, and domestic manufacturing
  • Market theses: Artificial intelligence, momentum, or capital rotation
  • Crypto strategies: Solana-based DeFi, liquid staking, and memecoin assets
  • Real-world assets: Tokenized equities, commodities, and other on-chain financial products

Basket pages show the included assets, their portfolio weights, and the reasoning behind the allocation. Cesto also displays backtested annual returns based on historical data from the previous year. These figures describe hypothetical past performance and do not guarantee future results.

Browsing investment baskets on Cesto

In the example used below, I selected the MetaDAO Maxi investment basket. It comprises nine assets from their launchpad, such as UMBRA and CRED.

After inputting the amount to invest, Cesto automatically divides the amount deposited into the percentages that should be allocated to each of the 9 assets in the basket. Then it executes the transaction. The portfolio is displayed in the Positions page.

Withdrawing Funds

Cesto does not impose investment lock-ups. You can close your positions and withdraw whenever you choose. To withdraw the value of a basket, its assets must first be sold for USDC. The USDC can then be sent to another Solana address through the withdrawal screen. To withdraw, click the same “Deposit” button to select the withdrawal option.

Rebalancing on Cesto

Asset prices change over time. This causes portfolio allocations to drift from their intended weights. For example, an asset initially assigned a 15% weight may grow to represent 25% of the basket. Cesto monitors each position against the basket’s target allocation. When a portfolio moves out of alignment, the Rebalance page identifies what must be bought or sold. Users can then approve a one-click rebalance that restores the intended weights.

Manual and Automatic Rebalancing

Manual rebalancing is enabled by default. Cesto shows the proposed changes, but the user decides whether and when to approve them. Users can also activate automatic rebalancing for individual baskets. When enabled, Cesto adjusts the portfolio whenever that strategy is updated to a new version.

What is Cesto Labs?

Cesto Labs is a community platform where anyone can publish a basket idea without joining the full creator program. Users select assets, assign target weights totalling 100%, and add a short explanation of their thesis.

Cesto Labs community baskets and leaderboard

Users can upvote baskets they believe in, while a leaderboard ranks authors according to the votes they receive. Authors can edit or remove their own posts. Labs baskets are community ideas rather than fully managed investment products.

The Cesto Creator Program

Cesto’s creator program is designed for analysts, traders, and strategists who want to build investable baskets that others can follow. Creators can:

  • Select assets and define target allocations
  • Explain the basket’s thesis and risks
  • Publish an investable portfolio
  • Update its composition as market conditions change
  • Maintain the strategy over time

Creator baskets differ from Labs posts because they are actively managed products intended for real investment.

Risks and Limitations

Investing through Cesto involves market, liquidity, smart-contract, strategy, and tokenized asset risks. Backtested results do not guarantee future returns, while rebalancing may incur fees and slippage. Although Cesto is non-custodial, users remain responsible for wallet security and transaction approval.

Conclusion

Cesto makes it easier to translate a market conviction into a diversified, on-chain portfolio. Users can browse thematic baskets, invest with USDC, hold the actual underlying assets, and rebalance their positions as strategies develop with time. With curated portfolios, Cesto Labs, and its creator program, the platform serves both investors seeking one-click thematic exposure and strategists interested in publishing their own ideas.
