What is Sol Recovery?

Sol Recovery is a platform built to help users safely recover untransferred assets from compromised wallets. If a wallet has been exposed, Sol Recovery can analyze the situation and guide the next steps. In mild cases with fewer assets, users can connect their wallet directly to begin the recovery process, while more advanced actions will require ownership verification.

If you've been hit with a fake airdrop phishing attack or your seed phrase was exposed, Sol Recovery analyzes your compromised wallet and advises you on the best way to recover your locked assets still tied up in DeFi positions on-chain or on staked accounts. The team also runs a botting service for assets that take some time before withdrawals (e.g., 24-hour cooldown) with specific unlock times, racing against hackers to get your funds out first.

Wallet Analysis

Sol Recovery provides an overall health check for compromised wallets to potentially diagnose the type of compromise involved. I connected a compromised wallet to try out the diagnostics, and Sol Recovery detected that my wallet had been bricked by a malicious attacker. Apart from automatically identifying the problem with the wallet, users can provide more context on how the wallet was exploited by selecting the option closest to the cause of the unauthorized access.

With the information gleaned from the wallet through the automatic analysis of the app and the option supplied by the user, Sol Recovery provides recommendations that can help victims avoid more losses and, if possible, recover assets that have not been transferred from the application.

Tokens

In the tokens section, select assets that have not been transferred and click on Recover. Connect the funding wallet that will be paying the gas fee by choosing Gasless (for free transfers covered by Sol Recovery) or add your own wallet.

Collectibles

For NFTs, the step is as above in the Tokens section. Select the NFT and click on Recover.

Domains

The Domains section is for recovering domain names that still exist in the wallet, such as SNS and AllDomains names.

Staked

If you have staked assets that can be directly recovered, this feature can help with the retrieval of the tokens. For assets with a cooldown period before they become available, an alert message informs you to contact the team for botting if the wallet seeds were exposed. Sol Recovery's botting service is designed specifically for situations like this, racing against hackers to claim your unstaked assets the moment they unlock.

DeFi

DeFi positions in liquidity pools and lending protocols can be withdrawn here instantly. For loan repayments where a user needs to settle with collateral, these can be supplied from the Safe wallet that securely holds the asset.

Workshop

This is an advanced feature for technical users that allows one to intercept and rebuild transaction prompts from any site to grant more control over how assets are moved out of a compromised wallet. It also exists as a tool for any platform that has not been integrated into the other tabs. With the Workshop feature, users can paste a transaction payload, modify its instructions, and simulate balance changes before executing it. It helps ensure that the user's assets are being sent to the right destination and not back into a wallet that hackers may already have bots monitoring.

The workshop feature allows users to check where a transaction will land before creating it on the blockchain

Ownership Verification

To use the more sophisticated features of Sol Recovery, users must verify that they are the rightful owners of the wallets presented to help distinguish them from a hacker who might have gained access to the wallet's private key. Additional information that proves true wallet ownership, such as transaction history showing a transfer of assets from the compromised wallet to the exchange before the hack.

Conclusion

Losing assets to a compromised wallet is a sad experience, but Sol Recovery offers a way to fight back. From simple token recoveries to more complex situations involving staked assets, DeFi positions, and advanced transaction rebuilding, Sol Recovery covers a wide range of recovery scenarios, including botting services for assets that might be frontrun by hackers on the unlock date. For anyone dealing with a compromised Solana wallet, it is worth exploring what Sol Recovery can help you reclaim.
