What Is WeSplit?

WeSplit is a simple shared-expense tool that runs on the Solana blockchain. Instead of headaches around “who owes what,” WeSplit keeps your payments structured, transparent, and verifiable onchain. Whether it’s a trip with friends, a shared apartment, recurring team subscriptions, or DAO contributions, everyone can track contributions and settle in real time with crypto.

How It Works

You create a group, add members, and record expenses as they occur. Each expense clearly indicates who paid, who owes, and how much each participant is responsible for settling. The protocol automatically calculates balances using a fair settlement method, so no one has to do math or manually chase people. When it’s time to settle, members pay directly using SOL, USDC, or supported SPL tokens.

The homepage consists of a good user interface that enables a smooth usage of the app. From its Send to the Deposit button, WeSplit makes the user experience great for the average user.

In this example, I created a bill called “Breakpoint Conference” that costs $300 and then proceeded to add a friend. The friend who will be making the payment must also get the WeSplit app.

Once the partner is registered, you can just search for their username in the app. I searched and added 0x, my partner for the Solana Breakpoint conference. He gets an invite message in his notification and accepts the invite by clicking “join”.

Select the Fair Split method to allocate the amount expected from all payment participants. Fair Split divides the payment into equal amounts for all participants. The Fair Split is the only option available for now. Select “Continue” to proceed.

Click on Confirm Split and make payment for your quota on the app.

WeSplit generates a new wallet address that is used for making payments whenever new splits are created. Slide to deposit into the vault and wait for your partner(s) to do the same. Then the deposit can be used for whatever purpose it was created for.

Use Cases of WeSplit

WeSplit works well for everyday life and Web3 users. Some of these uses are:

  • Friends & Shared Bills: dinners, vacations, contributions, shared hobbies

  • Roommates: groceries, utilities, rent balancing

  • DAOs & Working Groups: pooled resources, recurring tools, payments

  • Communities & Events: sponsorship tracking, shared logistics, ticket pooling

Why It Matters

Sometimes, managing shared money can be messy. People forget, delay payments, or even lose track. WeSplit solves this friction by handling everything transparently on the Solana blockchain with a clean record everyone can agree on.

Conclusion

WeSplit addresses a real-world need and leverages the Solana blockchain to solve it. With instant, affordable payments and automated tracking, it removes the awkwardness from split bills and collective spending. Whether in daily life or community coordination, WeSplit is a practical example of crypto solving a real problem.
